trying to get my buddy a 4x4 chevy and found a good deal on a 2wd, why do you need a 4wd engine cross member with a lift? what other things are differant besides the obvious?

any links to previous threads would be appreciated. jus trying to find out how hard it really is.

I have no links but the cross member is in the way of the axle.
If you cut the botom part of the cross member and remove the control arms you could still convert to 4wd and use that part of the cross member.
You do need a decent size lift though to clear that crossmember, at least 4" lift.
It's the way we did VAN conversions to 4wd the easy way.
