2WD X-Cab Solid axle swap. Follow my build up!

very true, even when the trucks on jackstands the backseat can come in handy...:whistle:

im gonna tap the frame and run so more bolt up from the bottom and then make some ind of brace that attaches to the bracket for support. The Reason i dont want to do it permanent is cause i dont know how long / when i might change the suspension. no way id go back to stock, just if i want to do something differant.;)

that "flap" on the brackets was what i was talking about, ill run a few bolts up through it;)
 
you gotta be cautious, the truck can rock right off the stands...not that i would know anything baout that though...
 
sure you wouldn't...are you going to throw the bed back on? i'm debating to keep it or not b/c that bed is really long on my dad's 88. maybe throw a toolbox, a rack for icechests & bags for traveling, OBA, and make a flatbed...but i just can't picture it...
 
nope i cant use the bed, all said and done theres only like 42" off the back of the cab...if that:D
 
yea...42"?? :eek1: ...holy crap...the other thing is if i remove the bed, make a flat bed and add the stuff i want, i'm not sure if it'll be too light when towing the trailer with the blazer on there?...hmmm...i guess it's all about trail & error...i just can't wait to try the whole jackstands thing...see how much momentum it takes to tip it over. :haha: no no, all perverted s**t aside, keep up the progress & post up more pics

i will. projects slowed down but theres still tons to do. should have the correct brakets soon for the front shackles. all i need then is some shackles. i need to get some streel for the rear mounts too but i work to late and its hard to get to the steel place in time:rolleyes:
 
what are you planning on doing for front shocks? i'm considering swapping a SFA into my 92 C1500, and this is the only thing that really puzzles me with the coil buckets being right there.

I havent really decided yet. I think im going to do bilstein 14" 5150's. i migth run them right up through the coil bucket. ill have to wait and see though depending on how the front axle sits. hopefully the front end should be in within 2 weeks. my 60 is almost completly together, and the front shackles are order, im just waiting on a few parts.
 
Front end is almost together!!!!

Heres some pics from today. Got the drivers side spring mocked up and the axle sitting & waiting to go in. Hopefully the spring flattens out good and gets a better shackle angle. If not ill re drill the front spring mount and push the spring back a lil. Then if needed i can use a zero rate tyo push em forward again... One thing though....and this is a big thing...The truck is huge! Sitting stock the top of the front wheel well was 32" right now its 48" and still has to go another 6-8":eek1: it might just be too big:o

Is that with any weight on it?? I mocked up my springs when I first get them and thought the same thing. But once some weight was on it, settled to a better level. Now I just wish I the friggin brackets so I can run the springs....

Something I noticed, the shackle mount looks to be below the frame, where mine (ORU kit) puts it right about in the middle of the frame. That there will give you 3-5" of extra lift....

yeah i know. Thats how i had to position the bracket to get it to move forward. Im only using 49" spring so to make up for it the mount went forward. I hope the springs faltten out enough...idk well see.
 
GOT WIDTH?!?!?!?! holy crap! dually front axle and stock backspaced rims its freakin wide. h1's are prolly in order unless i keep it as a trail rig...the width will be nice for stability.

Wholy crap is right!!!! You could take that thing on a hillside and not have to worry bout tipping over......Cool pic tho!! I think once you put some weight on there it will be alot lower...

Honestly i havent fully decideed whether im gonna run it on the street or not. I definetly nedd h1's to do it though. Im gonna wait and get the thing running before i make a final descision though.
