3.08 to 4.10 gear any diffrence?

tell your buddys to go try and move a object with a 3 ft prybar.

when thay cant move it give them a 4 ft prybar. i bet thay can move it now.

same with gears. thay are the multiplyer of power. the deeper the longer the bar. this means the job gets done faster.

^^^if they are the blocks from a 6" lift kit I bet they only measure 5" or so, the rest was an add-a-leaf. I got them cast iron ones in my K5...yeeaah, I wanna at least build a traction bar or maybe do a shackle flip. They look scary but no problems in the 2 years they bin in...knock on wood.

Just measured. My U-bolts are 16" long and have about an inch of thread above the nuts. This is on a 1 ton though with some big ass rear leafs with overloads 6" Superlift kit.

that makes me feel 100 times better. i had a few people saying i would not see that much of a diffrence but i stood my ground until 5 people all said it wouldnt change much because of my tire size:confused::confused::confused:. but i knew my CK5 brothers would steer me in the right direction:thumb:

If you are keeping the same tires then going from 3.08 to 4.10 gears will make a significant difference. Granted, 4.10's are still not optimal for 37" tires and the 700r4 (considering overdrive top gear) but a big difference from the 3.08's.

Now if they said not much of a difference when comparing 3.08 gears with STOCK tires as compared to 4.10's with 37" tires than they are probably right.

6" Blocks ???
Holy Moly....be sure to use locktite. :D
i measured the blocks themselves and they only come out to about 4" 4.25" so maybe they tricked me and i got a 4" lift:confused:

how can i determine the lift? what about the front?

Part of the rear lift is from an add-a-leaf so it might still be right. In the front there should be a PN painted on the leaf pack. Google it to find out what ya got.

i checked out the front spring as best as i could and could not come up with any number on anything.

My next dillema is i am buying some ss flex hoses for the front and rear axles the axles im installing are 1977 model year 3/4 ton 14bff/10b are the front and rear flex hoses the same? or do i need to buy a 1977 hose or a 1987 hose? im getting new hoses because i need extended lines.-nick

I also sasw a post saying that newer 2wd truck brakes will work and are already 6" longer than our k5's. if this is true im all over that give me a part number
