Everyone, I would like having some opinion before making a decision. I have been looking for a Suburban and I got two good deals, a 1982 ¾ and 1983 ½ both diesel
This truck will be used for long trip, I am not expecting towing anything.
Anyways, I liked the ¾ more, more robust, better brakes and differential, 16” wheels, however the drawback is the lower gear ratio. On the other hand the 1983 already have a TH700 with overdrive but I will not have the better axles, brakes, etc
So, here are the questions:
1 - I will have to swap the TH400 over to a TH700 or NV4500, so what is the easiest and cheapest way to go: TH700 or NV4500. I don’t care about manual or automatic.
2 – Will it be better just buy the ½ with TH 700 overdrive? The truck price is about the same.
3 – The drivability of ½ is really better than ¾? Considering both with Ovedrive? I read that a lot in some treads.
Thanks everyone for the help

If you aren't towing anything, you don't need to worry about brakes or axles. Whichever one is nicer looking and seems more "together" with itself.
