3/4 ton conversions having its issues

this pic is a few week old but the concept is the same. The front of the truck is sitting on 16" wheels only. its on a huge angle, so all the weight should be shifted forward. But for some reason its enough to put pressure on that rear jack. Oh well i'll prolly just back my other truck up to it and use it told hold the front down so i can at least slide the 14 bolt under the truck.

update

Well, i got the 14 bolt in. Not permanatly but its all bolted in. I'm still playing with the pinion angle before i tach the perches on. But it is sitting where i could lock the front hubs and drive it out of the garage. So thats something.

Cool. Got pics  ?!

The truck is now inside so my pictures are all closeups as my garage is pretty little.

nope, I had to go get the $28 special big/little u-joint from napa.
Last night i finally got my perches welded on completely and will build shock mounts tonight. Then its just paint and reassemble. I'm getting close.

After a couple of short-trip shake-downs, I want to take it on a long one. I figured a trip from Boise to Oregon City would be cool :D !
And I want to check out your rig.

well the rear is finished cept for some small thing like brake lines. (brakes are way over rated, all they do is slow you down)and upper shock mounts.
I actually drove it out of the garage then back in to see if it was all ok.
I was gonna go for a trip but i figured i'd wait until i actually had rubber on the wheels :D

As you can see i seriously changed the pinion angle from the first pic. There is still about 2 degrees more angle off the transfer case, but i decided that was exceptable.

I am a little concerned about how much penetration i got with my 110 v welder, but i geuss if the rear end falls off i'll know that answer.

BTW CDA 455. Come on over. maybe we can get a few of us local boys together and go have a beer or 2 and shoot the $h1t.

Nice rig.... like them big o' tires

Just a question, if you're welding on spring perches, why do you still need shims? You can angle the perches on the axle and lose the shims.
I have DIY 14B 1" extra height spring perches coming in and I'm using them to rid of the shims and zero rates.

I debated back and forth on the shims. I guess the main thing was i was too lazy to take them out of the spring pack.
My truck sits level the way it is. I went through a bunch of changes to get it level. I was afraid of taking out the shims, then getting sag in the back, lifting the back, then having sag in the front, lifting the front, etc......

That kinda how i got so high to start with :D

That would be cool. I've already met K2-K5, who lives north just across the river from you.

I'm going on a thousand mile trip-loop next Weds./Thurs. to pick up my front D60 and military tires in S. Cal. I'm also ordering my AGR Rock Ram Hydo assist kit next week as well. So the next three weeks will be very busy for my primer-grey K5!!

I'll keep you posted; and look forward to the Oregon trip :D !

we'll see ya then. I might even be driveable by then.

Just got a start on the shocks, and brake lines will go in today
