Here is a quick suggestion, Place the truck in 2nd gear and drive it around town ( below 60mph ). Now 3.08 rear X 1.5 ( 2nd gear reduction ) = 4.62 equivalent rear axle gearing. Therefore if this makes your truck too jumpy both on and off the gas then a 4.11 would be perfect ( smoother acceleration and decelleration ). Also if you have a tach look at your rpm at 55, 60, and 65mph. Ideally you should look for 2000rpm @ 55 and 2200rpm @ 65mph.
By the way I have an 81Chev 350 (w/turbo 400) with 4.11 and 33" tires. The larger than stock(30") tires efectively reduces my rear axle to a 3.83 equivalent. Good acceleration, lower engine rpm ( little better gas mileage ).
When you go to 35" tires your 4.11 will be essentually a 3.29.
