3" or 2 1/2?

you want the H pipe in a certain place (hot spot in exhaust).

Is this the general consensus about where to place the crossover? or does anyone else have any input?

I am in no way an expert in anyway but from most of the things I've read going with pipe that is to big you lose the spiraling affect and therefore lose velocity of your exhaust and this is what robs your power, just what i read...

I also read that really long article about how important the length of the collector is, talk about mind blowing... wonder if I can find it. Exhaust is way more complicated then most think.

Head over to "engine masters" website, find the tech article on exhaust by David Vizard. He pretty much covers head to tip.

I run no smaller than 2.5 inch and I use a crossover on all my exhausts I prefer 3" but for a stock motor that would be to big ........ A big single exhaust say 3.5 or 4" after the Y pipe would be cool . 2.25 pipe looks goofy and sounds to raspy for my taste I like a good deep sound to my pipes

Yer supposed to use a marker, crayon, or whatevers handy and draw on the exhaust pipe...where it cooks off from the heat is where yer supposed to put the H pipe. Or something like that.

close. use a crayon, and where it stops melting is the location of your crossover.

i think im gonna go with 2.5" dual....possibly an x pipe, thanks for all the help guys!

Now you just openned another can of worms... H pipe or X pipe. Power difference is almost nill. Some say x pipe for straight through mufflers and h pipe for chambered. But you can go either way. It changes the tone as well.
