Bought 86 blazer with 454,problem is headers hit everything and oil pan touching engine cradle. I was told I need engine mount brackets from 81 to 87 k20/k30 454, tried various frame mounts but no luck, any advice

x2 on dead motor mounts .

DO NOT BUY aftermarket stock replacements from the parts stores they sag out and fail super fast guys on here have found out .

i run energy suspension stock replacement inserts with no problems . but i run sbc and manifolds .

other guys have run diy4x and ord stuff with super good results .

and read up on header fitment in these old trucks . lots of part #'s they say fit do NOT clear the shackles and cause problems. there is a master list around here some place on what hits and what fits and tucks up in nice and neat better than reg headers do .

With new mounts (energy suspension inserts) on my 454 in my old k20 (stock sbc truck) there was 1/2 inch gap from the cradle to stock truck oil pan. I also ran the bellhousing torque arms that have plates that sandwich between the motor and the clamshell with bars that bolt to the torque convertor inspection cover. Hedman headers fit no problem, didnt like how low they sat, or how close they were to the shackle though...although getting the headers in meant pulling the starter and oil filter and flipping the upper shackle bolts so the nut is on the inside of the frame to be able to get the bolt out with the headers installed...

Thanks for the input, been really fustraighting trying 3 different sets of frame motor mounts, pretty cheap though, it has stock 350 engine mount brackets from a 88 blazer on the 454

I used SBC mounts with the BBC. Keep in mind the 454 pan damn near touches the crossmember so warn out rubber mounts will cause the pan to hit the crossmember. At the very minimum you need poly inserts for the clamshells or you can upgrade to a pair of ORD or DIY4X mounts. What headers are you running?

I'm not sure they came with it and are old and rusted ,what type do you recommend

Long tubes? I had headmans and they fit decent.
Yes they are long tubes, thanks for recommendation, front tube driver side hits frame ,and motor mount ,passenger side just hits frame, and shackle.think once I get correct motor mounts and brackets probably solve problems

those engine support rod mount plates also help lift the engine just a hair .

K series square body's had engine mount brackets that have the thru bolt hole 1" lower than typical 2wd or car ones,to raise the engine up higher so the oil pan wont be too close to the cross member--wrong brackets can let it sit right on the cross member..

Seen a few guys put 1" thick spacers under the motor mounts on the frame to get around this when no factory 4x4 engine brackets could be found..

Hmm going have to check this. I took a good 350 out of a ksub, installed where a bad 400 was in current ksub neither had plates for bell housing rods. I think have 2by buckets to compare. My oil pan is close, but doesn't hit. When I get the plates in will have a bit more

Really appreciate all your help, now I don't feel so overwhelmed

I called DIY 4x4 and talked to them about it ,there going to make mounts to.raise the engine 3/4 of inch, hopefully that does the trick. Thanks for everyone input really helpful

Get new rubber or polyurethane isolators. I built a truck that was a 305, 350, then a 454. I changed nothing. Stock mounts, stock clam shells that bolts to the block. Nothing hit, but as mentioned that oil pan is close to the cross member....

I have tried ,new frame mounts from ,diesel, then 86 305, then 88 350. Oil pan and headers hit everything, the brackets on the 454 are from 88 350 blazer
