Just wondering if it would be better for me to fix up my 305 or get a 350. I will be doing some light off roading, mostly daily drive. I live in california, so i was wondering if it was illegal to swap my engine, cause thats wat some one told me. its an 84 blazer. thanks

yup man... your stuck with the 305. Cali mandates that you have to leave whatever the rig came with in... only option you have is a tbi swap and some mods to the 305.

Maybe not tho... i doubt the smog referee is gonna pull your heads off and check the bore and stroke.

Tbi runs cleaner than carbed so i'd put a tbi 350 in her tell the smog nazi its a 305. smog requirements for an 84 carbed 305 aren't exactly strict. I'd bet money a tbi 350 would pass.

thanks for the info, i think ill just keep the 305 for now. Wat mods can i do to it to increase the performace.

well short of a cam, boring, stroking, and bigger valves would be headers,
k&n air filter, i dunno what el;se, not much really

i vote for the tell thjem its really a 305 option and put in an 80-later 350

and hope that they dont chewck the stamping code or casting code of the engine you swap in there

good luck
