Yep, Chevy made a 302. But not a whole lot of them. A friend of mine has one they ran in a race car and in a mud race truck for a while too.
. Then he asks me why I go to the junkyard and stuff like that for my "Stump Jumper"Scuse me, but Chevy never made a 289. The 302 was, I berlieve a 4" bore and 3" stroke. They love to rev and they need to, no bottom end. Only available in Z28s. They could be ordered with a cross ram dual 4 barrel and disc brake rear end, plus M22 Muncie. Factory rated at 290 horses, I believe. I think they also came with a forged steel crank. All in all, a GREAT motor for a Chevy II, or a Vega. I'm thinking it was a 327 bore with a 283 stroke. The opposite is what a 307 is, 327 stroke, 283 bore.sandawgk5 said:The 302 was a 289 that was bored to the size of a 350. It was to allow GM to race inside the rules of the GT series that had a 305 CI limit on engines. The Chevy 302 is a Badass motor.

i think sanddawg is an imposter, sent from the Bronco site to dethrone us from being the top 4x4x site out there.![]()
