I was recently given a set of 16.5" x 9.75" 8 lug black steel wheels. They are eight to ten years old but were still in the boxes and never used. There is a sticker on the wheels that says(3000 LB load rating, Max. tire size 33"). I was going to mount some 36" swamper radials on them but am unsure now. Has anyone else seen this? Will this be safe or should I stick with my aluminum wheels?

That's more than likley a cover their a$$ statement from the manufacturer. I wouldn't worry about putting your 36" tires on them.

I had a set said the same thing. I ran 35's on them with no issues. Was told by tire shop that the manufacture just puts that on there for legal reasons. If you run no bigger than 33's and put no more that 3000 lbs. you will never have a problem, and they will warranty them. I say mount them and run them....... HARD!:D

3k is a pretty hd load rating. I think its safe to say you can run whatever size you want.
