So i did my tbi swap a while back into my 85 k5. but I was never sure on the dipstick. does anyone have a part number for a factory tbi dipstick? mine doesnt fit well and im not sure on the proper length either. thanks

Why not use your original dipstick?

he said it doesnt fit right and is not sure if it reads correctly.id go to the pick and pulland find one.gm dealer should have one in stock.
I'm under the impression the dipstick was changed during the tbi swap.

maybe measure yours pulled out and then measure from the end that sits in the block to th bottom of the oil pan and see where it sits.i thought al small block dipsticks were pretty much the same length as the spot where they went into the block was in the same spot on all smallblocks.just the heads changed.and also what side the dipstick went into i think changed but the dipstick was still the same length.

they were different lengths and the one that came with the tbi motor did not fit right for some reason? I dont know why. also the tab that bolts to the block didnt line up so it is just sitting in there not mounted to anything which makes it leak a little.

i was thinking about buying one of the lokar ones so I could mount it to the firewall also. so if anyone knows the length the dipstick should be that would be helpful as well.

fyi on my mud/lifted/play trucks i install dipstick parts and p/s pumps and resivors from full size vans.
this brings eveything to the core support for easy checking with out climbing up the truck to check fluids.

hmm that is interesting, i assume out of a chevy van? got any part numbers or thread link?
