350 TBI oil capacity?

It depends on if you have an oil cooler. Anywhere between 5- 5 1/2 quarts.

If I had an aftermarket pan what would it be easy to tell?

It's a 1500, did the 2500s have oil coolers from the factory?

It does have an aftermarket trans cooler.

I've seen TBI trucks with and without oil coolers on 1/2, 3/4, and 1 ton.

if your not running headers, fram makes a filter thats twice as tall and holds 2 qts for a little added resivior and cooling capacity, but it hits the collector on headers

#ph373...iirc, is the 2qt. replacement, only fits w/stock exhaust manifolds!

I wouldn't run a Fram filter to save my life. Wix is the best filter out there. If you don't believe me cut open several different brands of filters and see for yourself. Also, most brands of oil filters have a "tall" filter for a chevy if you so choose to run one. Me personally, i would stick with the shorter filter to keep it out of harms way.

X2 You would be better off with a roll of toliet paper.
I hate fram filters. Both air and oil. Not because on all the bad stuff on the internet on them. I have had 2 fail and fall apart. Also their drain back valves are worthless. So you get dry starts. They dont paint them Danger orange for no reason.

Wix makes the same long filter as the Fram.. It's what I ran with stock exhaust...

:haha:

I dont trust Fram filters either, after seeing what is inside one compared to others like Wix and AC,Purolator, even cheap STP or Champ filters are better constructed..

I have a PH5 Fram sitting in the box in my room that someone gave me,that I am reluctant to put on my 6.2 pickup, even though the AC filter on it has been on it a long time (in years) but only has 3000 miles on it--but I have been adding used (filtered) oil to the engine daily due to leaks, and I'm sure the AC filter is probably chock full of crud by now,but I am reluctant to put the Fram on it...I'm not so cheap that I wont pay 5 bucks for a good oil filter..

The 51794 Wix is the 2 quart version I used on my Chevy's...

I have always wondered who makes ACDelco filters. After looking at STP filters I can say with some certainty that AC Delco filter and STP filters are the same.

Wow - two pages on oil capacity for a SBC? :haha:

Dump in 5 quarts and be happy.

Here's a pretty good look at various filters (linky):

All of this information can be a bit overwhelming. When it comes down to it, all of the lower-priced filters ($5 or below) have they ups and downs. In reality, there are only five different manufacturers available. Here are the low-cost filters that I feel safe using, based on all this information (in alphabetical order): AC Delco, Purolator, and Wix. Here are my reasons for each...
