350 vs. 383

I'm looking out into my shop at my fresh 383 on the engine stand, waiting for the time to swap it into the Burb. The call of the LS conversion was powerful but I have never been impressed with the low end torque of the LS engine in comparison. My factory equipped LS vehicles all get lackluster MPG, though probably better than my mild 383 TBI will achieve.
I hope I feel like a winner instead of a wiener when it is all finished and on the road.

Just be sure the TBI is large enough for the 383 and you will be happy. I'd step up to a BB tbi and definitely retune. Even then you may have to bump fuel pressure. TBI is a great setup if setup correctly. I have a 396 stroker here that is getting dual TBIs pretty soon. Will end up using dual small block base units with, probably, 4.3 injectors.

EDIT - I guess I lied, its only a 391. Only.......

Thanks for the tips, all advice sincerely appreciated:bow: I am running a throttle body that has been bored to 50MM on an opened up Edelbrock TBI intake and 70Lb injectors. I have an adjustable regulator and high output fuel pump so hopefully I can get it dialed in. Cam is a stock Camaro LT1 roller, heads are AFR 185

Nice. Are you capable of tuning it? It will need it with that setup. 7747 ecm? With an engine like that I would look at upgrading to a EBL Flash setup. The stock ECM is very capable but you need more than a usb cable to tune. With the EBL its very easy to help through email.

Build thread please.

Martin

You got it. Should be starting on it some time next month.

Yes sir, I have purchased the EBL system from Dynamic EFI. I am a total tuning newb so any help in tuning will be appreciated. Can I send you my computer to set up for this project?

I can supply a ready to run kit on a pallet minus transmission for 1.5 - 2 k. Price varies depending on engine and mileage. That would be a 5.3/6.0 with all ACC drive, converted harness and ecm.

My stuff is matched pull out parts not a little of this and a little of that with a crap car tune. The tune on the ecm is good enough to max the injector duty cycle at around 12.5 to 1 under full load. With the stock 24-26lb injector thats right about 375 horse. Don't believe me, follow the link in my sig. With the right intake, injectors and better valve spring we made 421 HP on a stock 6.0.

ON the 5.3 with our Baby Cam we made 411 hp and 400 lbft. Thats still a street able no lope cam that only has to rev to 6200. Max HP is made before redline. Max torque is made way before redline.

If you are TBI already then the fuel system is easy. Its not hard if you aren't but with a TBI system you can change the fuel pump in the tank on the cheap.

What have you pulled out of a 6.0?(hp wise) Do you do trans stuff as well?( engine supplied w/trans)

Stock form plus gen 4 intake, injectors, LS2 valve springs, 421 hp
My Baby Cam that runs the heads out of air, 460/460

More HP can be made with a larger cam but your are out of air already and have to account for the extra RPM needed.

Yes, we can have a transmission built or sell stock/builder.
