350 with 302 heads?

whats the point of this thread again? what are we trying to do here? 305 heads on a 350? vice versa? as with trucks, cars, etc, the 305 isn't worth an ounce of effort really... i can get 270 hp 350 long blocks all day for $1200...

as to marinized... i've NEVER seen a marine motor that didn't have brass freeze plugs.. car and truck cams are all wrong for a boat app... throw in carbs, dizzy's, alts and starters too...

Volvo's freshwater kit is a bit pricier than Merc at about $700... but i don't even know if this boat is salt or fresh run.. if it's been salt run, don't bother till you repower it..

word of advice.... you get what you pay for with marine parts.. good factory replacements, properly installed, is generally the smart approach to boats...

"hotrodded", owner modded boats are usually unreliable deathtraps.. one of our fave sayings is "a boat's worst enemy? it's owner!"

no offense intended to anyone, it's just the truth... 95% of the time, it's best left to the pro's..

If you do have genuine Chevy 302 heads, you dont want them on your boat! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

305 heads on a 350 short block. Primarily because the 305 heads that I have are from my marine engine and so is the intake manifold. Also the rest of the parts off my marine engine would be reused I'm only thinking of changeing out the short block. My 305 boat motor puts out more HP then my 350 blazer motor :doah:

Obviously intended on getting a boat cam. This is the cam I was looking at Melling Performance, part No. 22124

the boat is freshwater only already said that a few posts back.

Not looking to "hotrod" it just looking to change out the 305 short block for a 350 short block. These motors are recommended to be rebuilt every 500 hours I believe that is about every 3-4 years for me.

Absolutely correct!

And the Chevy 302 (DZ and MO casting) were 327 Blocks with 283 cranks, not a 350 block.
I goofed guys can we stop talking about 302 heads now please? Don't take it personal I'm not trying to be rude at all but it's not what I am interested in. My heads are 305s

You clearly stated that back a few posts ago. No worries.

So, put the 350 in it have fun. The 305 heads may have a smaller chamber than a 350 head, just tell us what piston the 305 has and that will determine what you will need for the boat
