3500 rear leaf bolt to 1500 without mod?

Can an 87 3500 rear spring bolt into a 87 1500 rearend? I have 9 leaf spring on front and want to get similar for rear; I think a 87 3500 came stock with 9 leaf springs in rear, if so I can get a rear set and swap the rear I have now.
Also, i am curious about removing leafs from a spring? With the 9 leaf front I have it gives me about 6 inches lift; if I remove 4-5 leafs would that lower the front to near stock?

1/2 and some 3/4 tons were 52" eye to eye. some 3/4 and all 1 tons were 56" eye to eye. all you need to do is move the rear spring hanger back 4" and reatach it to the frame. the 56" springs are +4" on one end only.
