I've got a set of 35x12.5x16 tires (315/75R16s) from a Craigslist ad and now I'm looking for wheels. I've found several ads for really nice looking wheels but they're stock width. I asked one person with an ad to measure the inside dimension between the rims and they came back with 7". These were 8 lug stock Chevy wheels that really look nice, but I have 12.5 width tires. I have a feeling Schwab will give me grief if I go in there to have them mounted up on 7" wheels.

So what about it? Can you run 12.5 tires on 7" rims? I mean, I know they can be mounted up, but is there a real problem?

Another thing, I'm realizing that some (maybe all) of the modern trucks have a different offset than the bitch'n trucks (70s & 80s). It seems like the newer wheels are offset toward the center of the vehicle. The classic trucks wheel centers are well inset into the wheel. The "0" years trucks almost look like you'd knock off a lug nut if you did a dramatic curbing. Is there a different offset on newer trucks? Is this a problem?

I'd really like to run some of the nice looking wheels I've seen that are narrow and possibly inset. What do you think?

Thanks in advance.

I had a set of 35x12.50x15 tires mounted on my chevy rally rims which were 15x7 factory. they were a little hard getting on, but they fit and it looked pretty good. I drove around on them for awile with no problems.

You will most likely want to spend a bit of time getting the pressure adjusted to insure a nice flat wear pattern across the tread. Other than that, there isn't any reason that it won't work, at least as far as wheel width.

The only issue you might run into is rubbing the drag link with the offset of the newer wheels. They are going to push your tires into the wheel wells much further than the typical wheels we run. It may not be a big issue with a 12.5, but I can't say for certain.

its nothing to worry over. they will fit fine. like already said, they might not wear even if you dont get the pressure right, mine wore in the middle alot faster but it was a pair of buckshots so i didnt really care much about it.

yeah they will fit i ran 35 12.50s on 8 wides also didnt look to bad, i also had a truck with 33 12.50s on a 7 wide that came with a truck and the thread was spliting cause if it pulling the sidewall inward.

i just bought some 33/14.00/16 inch boggers and was able to mount one on a 16x7 rims... if thats possible anything is:D

Good deal. Thanks for all your input. That opens the door for a lot of wheels.
