36 inch IROKS with 10 bolts, will the axel\'s survive?

I want to get a 4 inch lift and get the ORD 1 inch body lift and was wondering if first of all 36's will fit and if the 10 bolts can handle them?

the front will if your light on the gas and keep it open but for the rear get a 14bolt

Re: 36 inch IROKS with 10 bolts, will the axel\'s survive?

I have a 4" lift 36" TSL 10b front & 12b rear. They will survive if you don't play hard, but if your like me you will get a 14 bolt... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Rear will break, go with something a little more heavy duty like a 9" or 14 bolt SF

The front will survive no problem unless you drive like a complete dumb ass. I run 36" Iroks on a LOCKED 10 bolt front and run my truck very hard on the rocks and have NEVER broke it.

I would get at least a 12 bolt rear, but if you are light on the gas, they will be fine. I have 10b in front with 37"MT/R's and I carry a set of axles, but have never had a problem. But once again, I don't hammer down on the skinny pedal. Just use your head and it will last.

theres no difference in strength between a 12 and a 10 bolt and replacing a 10 bolt w/ a 12 bolt would be just plain retarted

To both of you, I disagree, but a) I'm not going to hyjack this post to say the same thing that has been said a million times in others, and b) Isn't it great that we all have our own opinion.

Re: 36 inch IROKS with 10 bolts, will the axel\'s survive?

Im planing on putting a 14bolt in the rear, but for now i dont have the cash flow to convert the entire rig over to 8 lug. for now im sticking to the 10 in the back with a lockright igot of ebay. Im going to be running 35" claws. My question is can i fit a 15" rim on a 14bolt i know the drums are huge. Just desiding if if should go 16" rim or not.

Its not the rear axle that is a problem with 15" rims, only the front calipers on a 3/4 or 1 ton front axle. There it may take a little grinding to fit a 15" rim but they can fit.

Awesome thanks im purchasing tires here within the next week, so i wanted to know if i should buy the 35x16 or 35x15 but i guess ill go with the 15 if all that is needed down the road is some grindage! Ill put a pic up when shes finished

Re: 36 inch IROKS with 10 bolts, will the axel\'s survive?

15" wheels will clear those big drums on the 14bff.

That's where I'm headed.

Gotta do some grinding on the front, though (for the 4"+ backspacing wheels)
I've read that the 2.75" backspacing 8 lug 15" fronts will not need any grinding at all. (but they stick out a bit)

What tire are you buying that is a 35x16 or 15? Has the MT claw recieved new sizes?

Currently running 35x16 boggers and would like to find a wide 35 that would fit on my 14's and not wear like a swamper.

THey probably won't clear without some trimming, if you don't want to trim than I would get a 3" body or a 6" lift and 1" body.

I honestly would say you wont break anything because those 36's are narrow. How much power do you have? motor stock? Stay away from the rocks and very deep mud and I bet you will never break anything. I never broke my 10B's with 33x14.50 tires and my built 406 pushing. I still have yet to have a prob with my front 8 lug 10B with 35x16 boggers on it and the same motor. I would say the 35x16 bogger would be meaner on parts than a 36x13.50 IROK with the same weight rim. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
