38\" SSR or 40\"MTR What would you run?

I'm kicking ideas about a new set of shoes. Currently I run the 37" SSR on a 16" rim.

What I had in mind was...
SSR in a 38x15R16
MTR in a 40x13.5R17

PRO's
SSR is already a good tire and I wont have to get new rims.
MTR is also an excellent tire, but Bigger

CON's
SSR will chunk the tread a little bit more
MTR will have to get new rims

The Jimmy is a Daily Driver and sees mostly mud but and rocks on occasion.

BTW, I'm running 383/700/241/60/14/4.56 and I have enough clearance to run the 38's no prob, but if I ran the 40's I'd have to relocate the axles both ways.

Open to all opinions here, what do y'all think?

39.5 TSL's might be a really good idea

Since both tires appear to be similiar in price, I would personally get the SSR's just because you can re-use the existing rims.

I ran MT/R's in the past and really liked them, but the TSL's I have now are better in the mud so I assume the SSR's would probably be little better in the mud also.

I'm currently working on my own 39.5 TSL donation fund for my own truck.../forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I assumed since Matt was asking that he had already saved the money./forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I'm sure you could put him to work, but better yet IMHO is for him to go work for one of your competitors (at least for a while...)

i would go whith the SSRs. i think Interco makes the best tires and going whith these will save you some cash (no rims to buy).

i have 39.5x15x15 TSLs and like em a lot. If i had to choose between SSRs and MTRs.. I'd prolly go for the SSR, unless they make the 40" mtr in a 15" rim...
