39" BFG Krawlers....any updates??

Sorry to dig up a somewhat old thread but I just saw on BFG's website that as of November 22, 2006 they are producing the 39" Krawler. Now things may have changed since then but if you go to the Offroad section you will see that they talk about some UROC drivers and in their announcement area it says they are available.

Did some catching up on my reading on a flight today (to SJC from Newark ,NJ) and saw in the Feb 2007 issue of Petersons 4W&OR that the 39" Krawler is coming out too.... (p. 104)

Prices could be $450/tire based on speculation and current 37" pricing (at close to $400 ea).

Oh, well.....at least they are really coming out. Playing with the "cool kids" is seldom cheap.

or, more accurately, playing with the "rich kids" is seldom cheap. :)

I have a buddy who just bought a set of the comp ones from a guy, said the new comp Krawlers have very little tread depth on them. Man the sport of rockcrawling is moving further and further away from what it came from, pretty soon its gonna be like Nascar.

The other thing that drives me crazy is when they do finally get a tire with some size, it always fits on a 20" or 22" wheels. so not only are the tires way too much money but so are the wheels, not to mention as a first gen guy a 20"+ wheel looks awful on the classics. IMO

I have found that it helps to know guys who are sponsored. My buddy sold me new 37 maxxis creepy's for $200 a piece. They give a new set to teams for every comp. I know lots of teams who will run 1 set all season long and have 5 or 6 sets chillin in the shop.

soon? pretty much already there. Its not as big as Nascar with respect to the $$$$ involved yet, but its already moved from a few-guys-out-doin-what-they-love-with-friends to essentially professionals-only leagues.
