396 Stroker for a daily driver?

:haha:

And a 396 stroker will rival a 6.2 for mileage? Hell, my mild 355 never hit teens unless it was straight up freeway and being babied.

Hehe it all depends on the driver but I know what your saying.

That $2000 vortec kit is starting to sound like it would be ****in sick ontop of a 500hp 383 :)

10 second 1/4 city :D

I've had my full roller, vortec headed 383 for 7 years now or so. No issues, I daily drove it for a while, ~30K on it now.

There is no inherent reason that a 383 is less reliable than every other small block.

I got 12-13 mpg on average, as good as 15, 5200 lb truck with 4" lift, 37's and 4.56 gears.

As for 10's in a K5, it will take a lot more than 500 hp or you'll have to drop a couple thousand pounds :haha:

O I know the 383 is as reliable as any 350 when done right. My reliability question was on the 396 kits they have now.

As far as hitting 10s this will be in my 86 442 so that makes it about 2000lbs easier :)

Besides the point 500hp at the fly wont take a 3500lb car 10s without a shot. At least a 500hp small block wont, an LS may very well with how they scream. Plus I was talking 500hp as the NA base number to add a supercharger on top of.

I was mulling over just going the full 9s with a factory deck height small block last night. Aftermarket block, 434 ci fully forged, roller cam, 210 AFR eliminators and a vortec super charger.

All in the future though.
