That $2000 vortec kit is starting to sound like it would be ****in sick ontop of a 500hp 383

I've had my full roller, vortec headed 383 for 7 years now or so. No issues, I daily drove it for a while, ~30K on it now.
There is no inherent reason that a 383 is less reliable than every other small block.
I got 12-13 mpg on average, as good as 15, 5200 lb truck with 4" lift, 37's and 4.56 gears.
As for 10's in a K5, it will take a lot more than 500 hp or you'll have to drop a couple thousand pounds![]()
