Any members / vendors here offer 3D printing services?

I have a RAM cell phone mount but would rather not drill into the dash. I was thinking about making a bracket to go into the rectangular power tailgate window hole that I can screw the phone mount to. Do y'all think it would work?

I’ve 3d printed a few parts for my Suburban, do you have a design already? I used to print as part of my job and the applications for the auto world are endless. If you have the file shoot it my way and I can make one out of abs.

Honestly, I don’t know much about the printing. I don’t have any files or drawings, just an idea.

I need a piece that looks like a really short mushroom - one side rectangular (about 3/4”x1-1/2”) around 1/2” tall and the other side about 2-1/2” round around 3/4” thick. It would need to be solid so I can drill into it for screws holes.

I want to mount this RAM mount into the tailgate window switch hole.

I would like to get into 3-D printing with my son, he is 9 . I literally know almost nothing about it. but it would be cool to print RC truck bodies and other stuff .

Any advice for something to get started with?

Sketchup is a free CAD program to learn on and Autodesk has a few free programs too. Thingiverse is a file sharing site that has about anything you need already done. I would get a 3-$500 printer to start, most people start with pla fimament. You will both enjoy it!

Why not just drill the RAM base? Make a 2 or 3-hole pattern that fits within the dash opening, then put the same pattern on a piece of steel bigger than the hole and run bolts through the whole business.

I am planning to secure it with a piece of metal on the back side like you suggested. I want to retain the window switch bezel because its face is flat and it fits the contour of the dash which isn’t flat in this area. I just figured the plug might be an easy adapter to put it together, I don’t want to mod the RAM base until I’m sure I need to.

OnShape.com is what I've used when I didn't have access to SolidWorks. Then export to .stl.

Got a plan to CAD this up, can some one give me the dimensions for the opening on the switch hole and the Ram mounting surface?

John might not be able to respond for several days; he’s out of town moving one of his daughters to Connecticut this week .
Hopefully someone else can post up some dimensions for ya’ faster than John can at this time.

Thanks guys! Yeah I’m way up north at the moment, I’ll be home next week and can look at it then.
