4.11 vs. 4.56 frustration

Yes, you can swap the gears to the front. So you already have the shim kit, marking compound, fluid and gasket maker? Make sure you check out all the bearings and seals when you have it apart. I suppose if you're not going to run it long term you can tear down to inspect and then order parts instead of the normal "master install" approach. Don't forget the new crush sleeve and pinion nut.

Good to know! & It's currently on its way from Summit! I ended up getting the "basic" kit without the bearings. Just the shims and all of the other necessities. & This grandpa truck has never really been wheeled... 99.9% of its 125k miles have been on paved roads.. So im hoping the bearings look fine, but time will tell!

I didn't see if you said auto or manual trans... but.. (also not coffeed up enough to fully comprehend the pages.. hah)..

but my truck had a turbo 400 with 3:73s and 33s and with a 350 @ 455k miles (swapped a cop car cam into it so 80k on that but everything else same) and it was ok.. it moved.. it wheeled, it did things a truck should do..

I then found a truck that was an sm465 and 4:56s... still on 33s.. and OMG what a beast!!!!! power galore, was fanfrickotabulouso.... blew up the 350 and put a 305 in... out of a 77 monte carlo as it was only $200 (and this is in 1993 fyi)... and still had the grunt and everything due to the trans and gears... and truck was a DD

It currently has a 700r4 in it, so at least im spoiled with O.D.! & Good to know! Really excited to get these swapped in shortly! I dont expect this thing to take off like a pro mod, but anything will be better than what it has now..! With the 3.08's it currently has, O.D. is practically useless.
