4" and 36" tires survey

Re: 4

Steve, what I did when I installed my body lift is use a 3 ton floor jack. I got a 2' 4X4 and then nailed a 2X6 to one end of it. That way it looks like a "T". The bottom of the "T" sits on the jack and the top of the "T" spreads the lifting point on the body.

I don't have air tools so I REALLY, REALLY benefited from a breaker bar to loosen the bolts. I just used the end of my jack. You will not believe how much this helps with the elbow grease. Also, I recommend you have a buddy help you out. I wouldn't worry too much about the bolts under the driver/passenger floor if your rig doesn't have rust, and it looks like it doesn't.

Re: 4\" and 36\" tires survey

I'm running 4" and 36x12.5 TSLR and couldn't be happier. I"ve got no rubbing at all. I did the full bore trim job to make it work, but I dont hit.

Re: 4

It was kinda an after though on the inside. I'm real pleased with the way they turned out, but I have another set that we are gonna do to make the lines nice and smooth. Same on the inner fender. Part of the inside cut I'll take the blame for, I was using a cut off wheel and the sparks cought my beard on fire, I'm suprised it was that straight

Add to all that and the fenders had been previously worked for some rust repair and ...well.... you get the idea.

Like I said, myself and the friend of mine that did the work are happy with the way it turned out, but we kinda used it as a practice set. I'm planning on repainting the truck, so when I do, I'll slap a new set on.

I've got another truck that I'm working on in the shop that we are thinking about cutting too, If the guy decides he wants them cut, I'll post pics of it too, it an 86 shortwide w/ 4" and 35's. I'm doing a bunch of suspension work to his, he didn't have any problems before with the tires hitting, but I'm getting ready to loosen things up a bit

Re: 4\" and 36\" tires survey

Im running a 4" rough country lift(rear shackle flip) with 36x12.50x16.5 TSL's. I have no rubbing on the street, but I only have about 1" of clearance so its gonna really rub offroad. Im looking into a 2 or 3" body lift now. How much would I need to trim to avoid the body lift? I do mostly mud and wanting to do some easy/medium trails.

Re: 4\" and 36\" tires survey

Trim it like the UAV and you should be fine. I have mine trimmed that way with 36" TSL's and it doesn't hit at all.
