There is a marine version of the iron duke gm engine that is (181 c.i.d.) 3.0 liter rather than the (151 c.i.d.) 2.5 liter used in cars.
I also believe there is a new vortec version of this engine and its still available to purchase new.

if you want to get into diesels like like the 4B, the series 50 Detroit is an 8.5L inline 4. runs twin balance shafts.

Iron Dukes were good 4cyl gas motors! I ran one with no oil showing on the dipstick and still got around fine!

Agreed its too bad most people think the iron duke is the same as the junky 4tech or the quad 4 both had low mileage life. the iron duke is strong enough to handle quite a bit of boost
