You're welcome!I've always had an eye for Pacers and Gremlins. That stems back to my high school days.

Folks can, and will make fun of the gremlins, pintos, vegas, chevettes etc., but they sure had more style than the more current econocars.I've always had an eye for Pacers and Gremlins. That stems back to my high school days.
Are these cars really only 1800lbs? Damn thats tempting... 4 door makes sense since you want that length.

I looked around here and nothing
Makes sense that they are disappearing. I used to ride to school with a guy who had one in the early 90's. His already had a rusted out floor and he would work on it in auto shop. 25 years more rust would have been the end of that car for sure.i think stock weight was 1986 lbs. with 4 cyl. A small block w/ iron heads is about 125lbs more than the 4 cyl, so it's still going to be light.
2) i'm a little surprised myself, in that just recently, it seems, that there really aren't that many chevettes for sale. Whereas just a few years ago there were at least 2-3 in any craiglist city at any time.
My theory is that the newest chevettes are 32 years old by now. Oldest are 43 years old. These cars never have been and likely never will be on the same desirability level as say camaros, chevelles, novas etc. etc. etc. Chevettes are more of "novelty" item.
So, i'm theorizing that the engines have finally quit, AND, since engine replacement---either stock, or SBC conversions are not straightforward AND coupled with the fact that chevettes aren't really, REALLY sought after, most owners have probably scrapped them rather than to try to keep them running.
Of course they are still out there as there were millions sold; We just have to look more diligently and be patient.
i actually have a nice 2 door, all stock and running in the garage, but i really want the 4 door. 94 inch WB of the 2 door just seems too short for dragging.
i'd willing to trade it for the right 4 door, so if you know anyone......
