4 link mounting positions - in use

Rant on.

No such thing as a 3 link front. Something has to support the axle side to side. That is the 4th link.

Rant off

My 4 link front works well with 3 horizontal links parallel to the frame rails at ride height. 4th diagonal link is as long as possible and as level as possible at ride height. Is it perfect? No. But it can not be with our type of rigs.

Are we bombing across the dessert at 100 mph? No. If we are, we all need to be in $500k trophy trucks.

I was told my truck and suspension would not work for crawling. That was 11 years ago. Nobody had done it yet. Now everyone wants to be me. JK.

When you get your rig up and running let me know, you're about 5-1/2 hours away from Rausch and 5 hours out of BigDogs and we run both places 2 - 3 times a year.

I've always wanted to check out Rausch. You ever wheel Wellsville, Ohio? That's main place I go. Not really an organized park but terrain is awesome.

I have all the numbers for my link setups just gotta tack stuff in and see if it works. I'm going 3 link front. Looks very tight up front with long ass driveshaft, exhaust and having my steering high and behind axle. All my lower links will be 45.5 long as of right now. Try to get all 18" out of my shocks. Hope they don't bend, using 2" .25 wall and 1.25 heims.

I'm running 2" x .250" top and bottom with no problems yet. I'm planning on carrying a spare lower and links this year.

I've wondered how thick is to thick when it comes to lower links? The force has to go somewhere....Rod ends pulling apart or brackets failing. Maybe the tube bending should be looked at like a fuse.

Just for grins I looked it up... The largest DOM tube you can get with a 1.50 id is 3.50 od weighing 26.7 lbs per foot.

I think I have a stick of 3"..... I had to use a hoist to lift it up on the rack.

That's a good way to look at it. May as well have something easy to replace be the breaking point

It’s super tight if you keep it anywhere near stock location. Take lots of pictures. Are you moving the axle forward at all?

For future reference of anyone searching this is how I mounted my rear 4 link. This is just mock up stage to flex test it, there will be a lot more plating and gussets to strengthen the mounts soon.0121180034.jpg 0121180034a.jpg 0121180035.jpg 0121180035a.jpg 0121180035b.jpg 0121180035c.jpg
