I was talking to me bud about stick welders and told him I want to get one. he said a guy at his work had like 5 Miller Thunderbolt 225 amp single phase stick welders and would probably sell one. he said they are cosmetically not in great shape but that work fine. said like 50 maybe 100 bucks would get me one.

well he came home with 4 from his buds place, said I could have them all for 75 bucks! they all work, one needs a new plug end, one has the switch thats broke off but the switch still toggles and works.

I already put the newest one in the garage before I took these pics, so I dont have a pic of it. it has the plug sockets for the leads in the same location as the old welder with the white face but its a newer machine, newer then the 2 pictured. did not come with a lead or rod clamp, or ground lead and clamp, but my bud gave me a rod clamp and ground clamp. just said I have to get cable. so off to the weld shop tomorrow for cable for the rod and ground clamp. I think I got a smokin deal. :D

Wanna sell one? I wouldn't mind having a stick welder around the house.

want to see if a bud is interested in one but if not you got first dibs after that. will let you know as soon as I can. I will probably sell atleast 2 or all 3 and keep the best unit for myself.

Let me know when you know. I am in LA on a jobsite for the next few days at the least so you don't have to worry about shipping. :D

Maybe you can get the "scratch tig" setup to work with one!

I will find out tonight or tomorrow for sure.

There is a way to put a tig torch on a stick welder. It's ok for steel but don't do squat on aluminum. You won't have the high freq. so you'll have to scratch start it which will work on steel. Causes more problems with aluminum.

I don't know a whole lot about it and am pretty sure you don't have the adjustability with the current like a tig pedal would Basically you can alter the feed rate of your fill material as opposed to the rod just burning in. You can also add gas so you don't have to have the chippin' hammer in your back pocket. Gas would work off of a thumb valve in the handle.

Kinda half way between a mig and a stick so to speak.

this welder is sold,

Hossbaby50 stopped by and bought it, Harley is a great guy, he hung out for a good bit, while I tinkered with these welders. Talked shop, tools, and truck stuff, I have not stick welded for over 2 years but layed a decent weld down with the welder he bought. he threw it in his truck and away he went. all in all it was a good day, :D Thanks Harley, was cool meeting you man.

after you left, I got so irratated looking for stuff I cleaned all my tool up. still need to pick up the rest of my junk but atleast my tools are put away.
