The biggest downfall for the SBC 400 is the siamesed cylinder walls which make them run hotter than any other SBC, and they tend to crack horizontally in the lifter valley area. I can't count how many i've magnafluxed that were cracked there. Also the harmonic balancer and flywheel/flexplate are specific for the SBC 400 ONLY.
^^This is why i dislike the 400 SBC. I went through two in my chevelle before i finally gave up and just got a big block. Other than the added weight i was MUCH happier. Did everything the 400 would do and did it easier.
. Youll have that at your command and before long you'll have a FI496/th400/np205/d60/14ff. and a set of 40's on that thing
