400 vs 350?

I was over here furiously calculating....trying to figure out how to do everything for $10K.

Haha I paid 3k for my truck (74 k5, smog exempt where I'm at, full convert and good floors and rockers) and I think I have about 8 or 9k into my truck and it's no where near what I want it to be. Even if you built everything from scratch by youreself, Im sure it would still come out past 10k lol

so I’ve read a lot on this recently and heard complaints about heat etc. I know the 400 makes more base than a 350 and I can use most of my current parts on it. It’s for a daily driver that sees mud once or twice a week what do you guys think on this a lot of you seem very knowledgeable on the old squares and just wanted to see yalls take on it
Ok I will chime in here since I am the one selling the engine.
First take your time to research the 400sbc before you pull the trigger and there was a young guy just like you a few years back named Adam that had the same dilemma and the discussion went on for a while.
You might be able to find the thread, I don't have time to look but maybe someone will chime in.
And I agree with everyone don't say there are no deals close by.
I am 3000 miles away.
Only consider the 400 if you want a 400sbc

I had a builder 400 that had no heads, sold it for$200 in less than 2 weeks. So I would look at a complete one for $300, if I wanted one. But be careful about getting in a hurry.

I love my 400, and the one my Dad had was great. (It is my son's now) I still have a spare since a guy only wanted $50 for it years ago.
