Wow! Thoughts?

I heard about this earlier. Seems ludicrous to me, but since I don't know all of the details about it, maybe it is worth some grand price.

I don't understand how there seems to be so much expendable cash for so many.
:dunno:

10 first gen K5 sold at the auction. Least expensive was $70k, several over $200k. And a 68 suburban for $300K. My hope of finding a decent priced project is fading.

If you're set on that era body, it's always been more expensive vs the 73-87 years

@Babaganoosh just bought a project for about 2 grand down in your neck of the hood

Everything was selling at ridiculous prices.

And that hogeshine K5 was actually $440k with auction fees.

It seems ever since that triple black one sold for 200K about 3 years ago the high point moves up by 100K every year. In about 3 years we have seen a 200K then next year 300K and now this year 400K. Can we see a 500K K5 Blazer next year? I'm still in shock at that price!

That is some chassis...

It was very impressive. I watched it roll through in person and the place was out of control.

Honestly, at those prices it would be easier to build one from scratch and you can now. Every single piece of sheet metal is available. There are multiple chassis companies as well. It's ridiculous at these prices but I do own one that could fetch a mint at this point:haha:

You got early Broncos trading for insane money no surprise first gen K5’s built with the similar resto-mod style fetch six figures.

The target audience that were kids when these trucks were new now have the income to support the crazy prices. They are nostalgic to buy but having modern drivetrains and creature comforts means you don’t have to be a greaseball to keep a carb in tune.

I bet not one of them see any more off road time other than the odd graded dirt road.

On one hand seeing these trucks hit crazy numbers validates the hobby and gets more venders interested into maiming products for them. The other hand is it drive up the value of even basket case K5’s to a level the average home builder can’t afford to buy.

Looking at it now if one is built right can fetch 100-200k spending $50 grand parts and labor to restore a rusty tub is still a good return on the investment. But if they were only bringing 50k it’s just not worth it to restore for a profit.

That's a K5 in name only. It's a full on custom like something you'd see on Bitchin rides or some other t.v. show.

Guy complimented me on the truck, talked about the one he use to have and how he wanted another.
Told him about this one, he went on a tangent about deals like that being a money laundering operation!
