400K for a 71 K5 Blazer

Can we all remember when we were kids and couldn’t afford that nice SS big block Chev priced at 3500.00 Lol! Blazers in every back yard for almost free!?
Nuts!
Shoot there’s a lot of us here that grew up with these trucks being sold new. They came out a few months before I was born and ended the run a year before I graduated from high school.

Some of the old farts were around when the first gen’s came out.

But it does remind me of trying to find a ‘57 Chevy for my first car back when I was in junior high and high school. The tri-fives were going through a wave of popularity that was fetching crazy auction prices. Granted the tv coverage wasn’t what it is now but those following in the hobby via magazines and Hemmings knew. Which meant most knew the values were going up and making basket case cars out of reach for a kids first car.

It’s funny I can say I bought a crusty ‘75 full convertible K5 for $500. I’m now one of those guys like my Dad and his buddies from the club that can say they bought a ‘57 for $2000 in 1958. Or a Nomad for $500 in 1970 because it was just an “old wagon”.

The crappy thing is the few clowns with more money than brains have more effect on the values of these trucks than they know.

I remember being able to drive a $500 Car cross country in comfort.

Dad & I spent many a weekend checking out new trucks. His first was a 77 custom deluxe! Strange name for something with just enough features to drive lol

It does remind me of the 71 k5 with a plow that I missed out on by y a couple hours in '99. At the time it was $750 running and driving, 4spd with a plow and not a rot box. Of course this missed opportunity is why I bought mine in' 15.
I also bought a 71 c20 for 500$ in 98.
Do you know how many more trucks I'd have if they could still be had for these prices?! I'd probably be single!
