44" tall X 12" Wide XMLs. My build thread.

Got reservoir for hyd assist power steering on. It's thrown on spare parts/hoses, not pretty, but I should have plenty of fluid. Radiator hose going from top of stock reservoir up to reservoir off 454 K30.

Should I use the big oil cooler or the little trans cooler for the power steering cooler?

Got hydro assist on. Feels kinda stiff. Dunno if it still has some air the sys or if it's just the 46" tires @ 3psi.
 
Yeah...the hydro assist steering is way too slow. Works, but slow. That is definitely going to have to change. I can't keep the tires pointed in the right direction on a bumpy climb with the pedal down.

Why do people stare at my blazer so much? Maybe it's cuz they're trying to figure out if I'm going to the desert or the junkyard. Or a filming for a new Mad Max.

You still dont have a cage in that thing? what are you waiting for? either way it looks pretty cool.

It was a shakedown run. I didn't get on anything risky. The cage will be in shortly, before any real wheeling.
 
Hm, what to do? The blazer sucks in weather. Want room for 4 people when we have another kid. Want to be streetable and caged so that IF I go shiny side down again, I won't have to go thru building another truck.
Burbs have too much overhang, cut the back off, and then it's no longer enclosed...I love shortened burbs, but don't care for all the work.
I have a couple crewcabs, but shortening the frame is work...
Blazer cab works pretty good, but the WB is too short for me...move rear axle back, where to put tank? Don't want it in the passenger area...raise floor @ tank?
How about a crewcab on a burb frame? Anyone tried this? I will have a burned burb when I get around to going to get it.
'Nuther option is to see if I can get my gpa's truck. Low miles '97 Chevy 1500 Xcab 2wd Vortec 5.7. Then SAS - know a guy with a Furd Dana 60 front, divorced 205 Furd case. Hp for sand, Xcab for room, Heat/AC...

Feel free to spout ideas...
 
I think the easy way out would be to extend the wheel base on a blazer and do like you said and raise the floor for the fuel tank. Or just put a good fuel cell in the way back and build a sheet metal box around it then extend the filler neck to out side of the cab.
