I used ask questions on here about putting a chevy body on a dodge frame or maybe putting a 440 in a chevy frame, i don't remeber which. But, anyway after 3 years of changing my mind I bought a rust free 1977 Chevy body for 1200 bucks and its now sitting on my dodge frame with the 440 stuffed in it. The funny thing is that the chevy body fits like a dream, the chevy core support actually fits better then the old dodge one, I was going to have to drill new holes to get the dodge core support to fit in the right spot. I havn't decided if I should just get rid of the mopar performance valve covers and tell people it's a 454 or own up to the fact that i was dumb enough to buy a dodge.:doah:

Interesting...but weird.

Why'd you put a Chevy body on a Dodge frame again?

The other way around is fine for conversion class at Super Chevy , your about to sign the devils contract :eek1:

better sell that to a guy with a Mopar B body , and buy a BB Chevy so you won't flood your dizzy everytime it gets a little wet out :wink1:

yeah aren't the distributors in the front? be hard to play it off as a BB Chevy unless you are telling a wiitard :doah:

EDIT: shoulda put a Hemi in it :haha:

Useless trivia : Current hemis , aren't really hemis , check the shape of the chamber , ain't spherical enough except for the boys in marketing

i was talkin old school :D but nice to know if i ever get a dodge....not likely

Yeah its hard to hide the identity of a 440, ill just have to weld the hood shut.

But anyway the reason i'm doing this is because I kept pushing forward with the dodge even though I hate dodge trucks, I don't really know why, maybe temporary insanity. So, I gave up for awhile becuase I didn't wan't to spend thousands more for a dodge body when I didnt even want it. Then I tried to sell it and when I realized that dodge truck owners cant afford a 440 I said screw it and got the chevy body. It's not so bad though, its a 1968 motor so at least it's the good one.

i never said it but i like it too. different is right. coulda went Ford and ruined the whole thing though

Does it have hardened seats ? We are in an unleaded world .

It was a long time ago that I built the motor (first one i've ever built) but the heads were completley redone so I assume it does. The only thing that really makes the older 440's better is that they are forged I think.

Actually, Mopar used forged cranks in 440s up into the mid 70s. Personally, I like the BB Mopars better than the Rat motors. Not as many valve guide wear issues, and the oil pump is on the outside, for easy replacement.

Is it a HP, or a 350 horse motor? The RB (440) block has a taller deck height, making for bigger stroker motors, while keeping a decent length rod. Congrats for doing something different. I ALMOST put a 1970 429 into my 70 K5, but sanity prevailed.:doah:

Well I have a terrible memory so I can't think of the hp numbers, but it's bored .30 over with hyperuetectic pistons, a new cam of course with .454 lift I believe. Then it's just got a performer intake and thorley tri-y headers.

The sad thing is that for what I paid to build this 440 i could probably have a stroker 454 with a blower on it.

The factory 350 horse motors just had a letter (D, I think, for 68,) followed by 440. The 375 horse motors had a HP stamped after the 440.

I'd gladly take a 440 out of a C Body or a motorhome . I would have to find a nice old Satellite or later year Charger ( 71-74 ) to put it in .

I have had a couple Mopars , and Dad owned a ****load .

What irks me is the damn K-Member needed changing a lot to go from six to 8 cylinders , the damn unibody , the rust that hid everywhere , and those easy to explode axles on the small block cars .

I did like the easy to adjust pinion snubber , and slamming a baby blue Royal Monaco was a 10 minute job :thumb:

Oh, I definetly forgot all about that. The motor is out of a road runner if i remember right, bought it from a friend of mine for $300 bucks. I remember him saying that it's the good one so I assume it's an HP, but i'll have to check for sure tomarrow.

your tires are backwards.

Yeah I realized that after looking at pictures of other trucks but the crappy lugs that I got with them cross threaded and screwed everything up so when I decide to get new lugs and studs ill fix it.

Those wer'nt reverse thread studs at one time were they? Mopar was known for that, as well as other backwards tech.
