440 in a chevy

I wont lie to you guys Id throw a Hemi in a chevy any day of the week...come on its HEMI:saweet: now id never kill a chevy muscle car with a Mopar motor. Someday I want a Chevelle with a 454 and Charger or Challenger with a 440 or hemi repectivly, a Hemi Cuda would be nice to...but now im dreaming again lol

they where talking hemi's, not wedge blocks..... was something i said incorrect? :what:

the 413 was not a relative to the Hemi. The way you worded it, it sounded like you were talking about a 413 hemi.

in the '50s, there were several different hemis. 331s, 354s, 392s and some smaller ones too.

And about putting hemi's in things, HEMIs go well in everything! Even Chevelles and Camaros.

Mo Power!!!!

guess that wasn't the most concise message i've ever wrote... :doah:

hemi's are cool and all, but i'll take a 572 crate motor over it anyday..

here, this'll make ya cry... :wink1:

chevyfumes, I got a forum for ya...

Oh, and I sure would like to have whatever motor was in that Cuda!!! Has to be a 340 or better. That was a '70 wasn't it? Hockey stripes are what I'm seeing...

yup, 70, 340, 727... real one too.... :frown1:

yeah option 3 is sounding pretty good. I think i'm just going to finish up the dodge frame and drivetrain (minus the lift) and then wait and see which parts come my way first. The 440 total is going to cost me like 4 grand and the axles are 1,100 so i have no money left to even consider getting a new body.

yumm... 340!

When I bought the motor for my challenger, I was told it was an externally balanced 340. Turned out to be a 360. No problem though since I only spent $200 for the motor and tranny.

I lightened the rods and pistons, balanced it out, put floating 340 style pins in it, 9.5:1 CR, 340 windage tray, HV oil pump, left the 360 heads stock(next thing to be changed!) Eddy Performer RPM intake, lifter valley baffle,
Hughes 2430 Hyd cam(272/276 adv. dur. 224/230 Dur @ .050, .510 lift, 110 LSA) Tuned Chrysler Electronic ignition, Holley 670 Street Avenger, Hooker Super Comp 1 3/4 headers, 2.5 inch exhaust w/ X pipe, Dynomak turbos and Dynomax bullets(sleeper quiet.)

w/ a built 727(Hughes 3000 Stall verter, Transgo II kit, Hemi Kickdown, Max Wedge governor) and 3.91 Sure Grip rear.

It'll run consitent 13.70s at the track on street tires! The fastest I've gone was a 13.52 on Slicks, but I don't run on slicks that often.

I think I'll swap some ported 340 heads onto it later, but I got to do some building on my Blazer first!

I do have a 383 sat aside in the work shop for her though!

Why do you hate Dodge? Please elaborate why you'd rather put a chevy body on it?

Sorry, but I'll take a 440 3/4 ton Ram over a 454 3/4 ton Chevy any day of the week.

cool...
just so you can really drool, it had W2's on it... :saweet: had that motor in more cars.. Cudas, Challengers, Dusters....

only had 1 BB, but i knew the SB's very well.. had some BB buddies with Belvederes, Chargers, etc...

Oh yea! W2s!!! The great equalizer to big blocks!

I know both the big and small blocks pretty good, but I just love a good running small block!

Almost bought a '73 Duster before I got my blazer.

lucked out on the W2's, bud had em for a good deal.. and we're also talking like 1982 here..

Dusters are cool.. good hotrod... has kinda bad rap from the masses.. mine was pretty sick.. 340 in front of a 3 speed manual, zoom clutch, etc.. lotta fun... launch was

Cudas are the baddest tho. still my fave body of alltime... hafta get my scanner working...

yea, the one I was looking at had a '68 340 and 4 speed swapped in, plus it had the better '73 up bolt patter and suspension!

The price of dodge parts is way to high, and i grew up in a diehard chevy family.

I see your still mad cause I teased you abit, get over it Ms. thinskinned...
No, I wasn't mad, I didn't even remember that!

No, that sites fun, it's not what it looks like from the URL.

I got about 2000 posts there!

I've never found Dodge parts to be that more spendy then Chevies. Besides, you were talking about keeping the whole drivetrain and axles. Probably had a D44 front, thats a good thing.

Guess I won't be able to talk you into the dodge so I will quit trying.

Well I already have a built 440/np435/208, sand blasted frame, and im getting a set of d60's in the next month so, im just thinking if i piece together a chevy body i should be good, I can get a free bed so if it works out I think that will be my best bet.
