This is swapped into my 91 burb.
Basically wont overheat under any conditions except idling with a/c on. 90+ degree weather, and after 10-15 minutes coolant temp will get over 230.

Everything is in good shape, good shroud and good fan clutch. clean big radiator.
Is this fairly normal for a big block? I have considered adding an electric fan, but we normally dont get weather like this, and I dont usually let it idle that long.

Big blocks run hotter than small blocks because of the obvious size difference in the engine bay. Most 87 up factory BB trucks came with a small electric fan that kicked on when the AC is on, or when temp hits a certain degree.

I would get a good fan and wire it to come on when the AC compressor kicks on, and add a temp sender switch to kick it on automatically when it hits a certain to your liking temp. Summit sells the switches for like 20$. Great peace of mind and you never know, 10min isnt a very long time, and everyone has left their truck idling in the driveway for a 2 second walk in/out of their house and walked in on the dog dragging the trash out of the can.
