454 interchange question?? Please help

I would use an Edelbrock Performer RPM and make an adapter for the TBI.

Why shorty headers? If you are going to fight headers you just as well get some long tubes and make it worth your while.

That would be an Edelbrock single plane correct?
The explanation about the headers is like this: I went round and round about long tubes, which ones, fitment etc and I really couldn't come up w any available in my price range that were a sure fit w my bbc/th400/np205 combo and these edelbrocks came up on ss454 w very little use so I jumped on them because I was under the impression fit would be much easier seeing as how the dump is almost identical to the factory manifolds and I'm not getting too radical w the build; just wanna get my truck back together, sick of driving the car! Lol..

Nope, definitely a dual plane.

10-4, roger that.

Why are you so admit about a dual plane? The guys over on ss454 have a general consensus that a single plane w a TBI unit is the way to go. I'm not opposed to ether one but I'd like to hear what you have to say about he dual plane w the TBI. Maybe I didn't mention that I'm staying fuel injection...

I looked at those threads not long ago. Most of the single plane suggestions are on max HP applications that have big ovals. For a truck that is used at lower rpms dual plane is the way to go. You just said it was mild.

Roger that, I didn't know those were higher rpm power makers.. I found a couple threads suggesting the Edlebrock 3764, do you suppose I can do better w a carb intake and use my adaptor? Btw, thanks for pointing that out, I appreciate the insight..

I have a buddy doing a pretty stock l19 build up right now. Since it is budget we are using a stock vortec 454 roller cam, flowtech full lenth headers from summit that will be getting a O2 bung and now a 3764. Early in the game it was to use my weiand street warrior and an adapter. The only real reason we changed is that he got the intake for $80 at the swap meet. I think it does have 2 advantages. It retains the egr which despite the fact some people despise can make a difference in part throttle detonation and fuel economy. The other advantage is the tbi ports will now be centered in the runners and not over the back of the plenum. Does this mean it will make more power?
I doubt it. I really like my street warrior with my qjet because it matched the peanut ports and was actually made pretty nicely.
