Ok guys picking up a 1995 454 block and heads probably will rebuild it. Bit my question is I have a 1990 K5 all stock still using fi system. I want to continue to use fuel injection what do I all need to do? Thanks guys.

Guess I'd like more detail on what sensor I need to use on truck and etc

TBI throttle body (complete), ECM, knock sensor, need to re-pin the TPS for 454 sensor (not a big deal). Transmission may be another big one...a 1995 with a 4L80E is going to have a PCM, which controls trans, and it will not work anywhere near correct without that trans, or swapping to a manual trans PROM, assuming that is even possible in the '95 PCM. You'll have to compare the ECM pinout on the '95, they may have used different connectors, which may mean having to swap pretty much the entire harness. If the connectors are the same, then swapping pins around to where they need to be is pretty simple.

There are some fuel intricacies specific to the later 454's. I know GM ran a high pressure TBI system for a little bit, and that is an additional complexity you need to be aware of. That would require a different fuel pump, at a minimum.

Iirc, a 454 does not use a knock sensor. I would also think he could get a custom chip for his original computer (instead of replacing the whole thing).

Early TBI 454 didn't, later did, somewhere around 1990-91 IIRC.

I can't think of a reason you couldn't delete the knock sensor and run the 1227747 ECM original to the K5 with a custom PROM, although if I could run the knock sensor, I would. Not sure if the 454 injectors are high pressure if that is something the 1227747 can deal with or not. It might be an issue, I'd want to know if it's the high pressure setup or not, before researching that.

Well I would be keeping the original 700R4 454 should do fine with that? I think. And I have another ECM I could have reflashed/programmed with 454 needs. Far as knock sensor I'd like to keep everything in the truck the way it is so I don't have an engine light on.

Can't I just strip parts off in 89 to 91 Suburban 3/4 ton and have all the parts that I need and the computer three quarter ton Suburban with a 454 and have all the parts that I need?

If you have access to an '87-91 R/V truck with a 454, then you've got pretty much everything you need, except if the truck has a 4L80E. I *believe* the ECM was the same 350 or 454 (The PROM and maybe the ECM pinout are different) until the electronic transmission (4L80E) came into play.

I have a '94 454 TBI and it is the high fuel pressure system. I was having problems and finally figured out it was because of low pressure.
