Hey guys,
I currently have a 454 with a MPFI edelbrock kit on it. I am about to remove the mpfi kit and go back to stock tbi for now. This truck has always been equipped with the mpfi so i need some info.

Ive looked around and it appears i can run a carbed intake with a tbi adapter plate? Would yall suggest this route over the stock tbi intake?

I have been looking around on ebay and craigslist and they seem to be the same price basically so if a carb intake would produce more power and still have good manners i wouldnt mind getting one.

Adapting everything else back to tbi should be pretty painless.

I would use the dual plane intake that matches the head intake ports. The Edelbrock 454 TBI intake has small intake ports. The 454 MPFI heads, are larger oval?

Yeah the ports have to match. Stock intake on most BB is a carb intake with adapter so GM did not have to make two engines for small trucks (emmissions) and commercail.

But what is so bad you want to remove the edlbrock system?

I can't imagine why someone would want to.......

The injectors were sent in to be cleaned and I have 3 of them that need to be replaced. The chip in the truck is not the best so I need a new one. The fuel pump just died on me. Rather than spending $500+ right now I can go back to stock for much less $$ for the time being. I've got the pump and tbi assembly as well as stock 454 chip. Im in the middle of nodding my injection on my 350 so I can't afford to fix both. With hurricane season here I need my suburban(454) to run ASAP with minimal funds spent.

Mpfi- pump $130, injectors $180, chip $150, misc $50 - $510ish

Tbi- Intake $100-150, stock tbi FREE, stock pump FREE, Stock chip FREE - $200ish

Im really just trying to save some money right now. I just bought a jet ski to enjoy for the summer! My Jimmy is almost done at the body shop and they want their money! Funds are low!

I think i can get it up and running again going the stock route for about half the cost. Ill put the edelbrock in the closet until december or so then go back and replace as needed. I will ultimately use it again but i would rather get the preferred ecu like Dave suggested for the 350 for the 454. I am going to keep and mod even further when the money allows. Im going to pull the motor this winter and refresh it so its only temporary.

Im going to pull the intake after work today and then i will have some idea of which ports these heads have. They are aluminum heads and dont have any markings on the front of them. Mystery heads. The shop that built the motor for the P.O. said they would send me the motor specs but never did.

I have two stock 454 TBI intakes, one for the early version Throttle Body, and one for the later version Throttle Body. If you pay shipping, you can have either 454 TBI intake for FREE. The intakes are cast iron and very HEAVY! Maybe the free intake is worth the shipping?

Let me if you need pics of the intake ports?

Sounds good Dave. Thanks for offering! I'll snap some pics of the ports tonight.
