When in high/high on a doubler it is like its not there. Then you have low/high, that's like the low you have now (supposing you do a 241/205) then there's high/low that will be a little higher low range than you have now. Then theres low/low and that is twice as low as you have now.

Basically a doubler will only change the offroad gearing, and only if you want it to.

Any links on how to build a 241/205 doubler? I've been searching but I haven't seen anything that goes from start to finish. If any welding is involved I have plenty of help there. Maybe I'm not putting in the right key words.

You need a machined case to put the 241 planetary in. Yeah you can make one, but it's easier to buy the case and shifter since you have the planetary

This case bolts to the back of your tranny just like regular tcase. The 205 bolts to the back of that just like your 241 does to your tranny

Would the NWF Eco box be a good candidate? If so, the 205 bolts to that? Then I need to get shift cables to a shifter to make this work. Like I said, I'm very new to this and trying to find all I can on how this works and at the same time do all the work myself to help save funds.

The set-up from ORD is awesome but I would like to make my own as much as possible if it will save some money and give me experience on building something.

Any certain year of 205 or what it came off of that I should look for?

Round pattern. On ORDs page it says which years

I'd call ORD (@1977k5 ) to see if they just sell the case like NWF does. I'm biased towards ORD, their service has been second to none

I like everything I have ever got from ord! I have their 241/205 doubler. They make great stuff

I have always had good service and products from ORD so it can't hurt to ask. @1977k5........Do you still make the 241/205 kit?

The 454 Vortec is sold, but not to me. It went to a friend of the seller. I'll continue to look for another Vortec. If no more come up in a short time maybe I'll just look for a 454 TBI. Any tips on waking up a 454 TBI.

There are some 454 engines for sale not too far from here but they are not TBI. Would putting a TBI set up on a non TBI engine take away from the HP or Torq?

I know, lots of questions. But as I stated, I've been wanting to put a 454 in this K5 and now is the time. I just want to get more HP and torq out of it compared to the 350 TBI I currently have.

I also want to stay with the 4L80E tranny for now.

tbi = peanut port heads . great till around 4k rpm then choked .

older 454 better chance of 049 or 781 heads with LARGE oval port heads = good .

skip the tbi anymore . just do a fitech or holley snipper . few here running them now and happy .

I am doing a 78stock 454 781 head 60k mile bbc in my plow machine build. going roller cam and rockers with fitech and usshift 4l80-e controller unit.

also bbc anytime you swap cam from stock = valve spring swap from what I have read and been told . stockers are to small for bigger cams.

If you get a non tbi motor you might need to do a cam swap, but depending on the year it will probably have better heads than the tbi motor. That would be a really good thing. Tbi 454 heads bring the suck.
