i was going to run the 700r4 that came in my K5 with the 4.88's and the 39.5" TSL's and figured that should be about right/ok for that setup.

but being that i miss driving a stick i decided to loose the 700r4/208 and swap in a 465/205.
but after plugging in the numbers into one of those gearing - RPM conversion charts its showing that the RPMS are gonna be way up there if i have to take it on the Highway.

so my question is i need opinions if i should stick with the 4.88's or swap the 4.10's back in?

stay w/ them offroad your not going to want 4.10s on 39s I run them and it sucks

The 4.88's should be fine. I ran 5.13 with 39.5 tsl with the 465/241. The rpms were a little high on the interstate and gas mileage sucked. I swapped in the TH400/205 with 44's now and the rpms dropped. The gas mpg went up 2mpg:D

cool, now i just have to get a set of 4.88's for my $150 Pick n Pull Dana 60.

i wasted probaly $400 rebuilding a Dana 44 (new gears, bearings, seals, ball joints, rotors, axle joints, etc.) figuring i was never gonna find a 60 at the PnP, and wasnt gonna spend the $800 + from somebody else.

4.88's are definetly not too low of a gear. Your rpms will be good on the highway, you are probably not gonna be going 80 mph anyway, so your rpms will stay pretty low.

Your RPM's should be fine. I have run my 35's and 4.56's in drive (700R4) on the highway and it isn't to bad as long as you stay around 60-65. I can't go faster but with a 39.5 and only a little more gear you should be fine. My tires only measure a true height of 33.5-34".

I run 4.88's and 39.5 with th400/203/205 65-70 is about it for any lenght of time that puts me around 2900- 3200 depending on head wind and hills. That gear was fine for offroad but I wanted more, much like you will get with the 6.55 first gear of the 4 speed.

2wd leveling kit for my 04.5

anyone have one? and a link to where i can buy one? i would prefer steel, but would go wioth t-6 aluminum as well.....

im going to need it for the 315's and the air bags for when i pull.
thanks
