well, reverse has no syncros, so it will be harder, also, in the vehicle it will have oil, and, if needed, you can let up on the clutch to spin the shaft

once it goes into reverse now, will it go out and go back in ok?

With my 74, I sometimes had the gears lined up just perfectly so that the truck wouldn't go into reverse. Just pop it into third, then it'll usually go into reverse after that (don't need to let go of the clutch)

Or, you can do it the nasty way, just let the clutch go a bit, then when it starts spinning, clunk her in, lol :doah:

take it back now and get the rubber gear option . this will help make the non syn gears be much quieter. :haha:

Yep, there are no synchros on 1st or reverse in a 465. If you press the clutch (with the engine running) and shift to 2nd, 3rd, or 4th before you shift into 1st or reverse then you won't get that nasty grind that I hear folks with 465's perform far too often... :doah:

I always felt like I was driving a school bus when I was rippin' around town in my 74 :)

I miss that truck, lol -- I'm planning on putting either an SM465, or an NV4500 into my 80 to make it feel a bit more like the 74 :)

Never shoulda traded that 74 for the peice of junk 89...

then u dont think i should worry about it?it goes in but it takes all little work, ill get the hang of it.forgot its not out of a bmw. thanks for the help!
