4bt k5 on youtube

Isn't that a little underpowered? What about a Cummins 12V or maybe even one of the newer ones?

Nope, 120hp and over 300tq with a stick run pretty good. You got to think they are in something that is way heavier than a k5 and get around decent. Everything off a 12v Cummins will mostly swap to a 4 banger Cummins, one of my buddies put one in a 97 TJ with a nv4500 behind it and let me tell it would flat get down the rode and get over 30mpg.

The newer ones are electronic. ISB and ISBE are more difficult to swap in because of the computer system.

I wouldn't be suprised if a 120HP 4BT powered K5 could run right with one with a stock carbed 350. A lot of the older 350's only made 165HP or something, with nothing near 300ft lbs of torque.

Regardless, the right 4BT could make 250-300HP fairly easily.

And they're much more fuel efficient right? I just might have to look into that. I wonder if I can bolt one to an Allison 6spd while keeping the 4WD.

Yes very fuel efficient as long as you don't get mod happy but they still get good mileage modded out.

With the right amount of cash you can do anything, an Allison 6spd would need a stand alone computer and you would have to find out what spline the out put is on it so you can swap t-cases to a p-side drop t-case.

Now I want one....Somebody please get this idea out of my head. I'm already selling the 5.3 so I can go 6.0. :doah:

Wow my Blazer is getting around.
I got a PM on 4BT Swapps that said it was on here so I signed up and sure enough, here she be.

I have been driving the Blazer around for a year and a half now and I absolutely love it. It is noisey inside before the engine warms up, but after it reaches operating temperature it's not too bad.
I don't have Boggers on there anymore which is what you hear a lot of in the video. They were on backwards because I had one that was trying to take the shape of a football and it helped to turn them around.
Im running 37" Goodyear MTRs and they roll a lot better and quieter too.

In the power department it won't win any drag races, but it has no problem keeping up with traffic either. I still have it set to potato chip truck specifications too. I may turn it up a little in the future, but for now im satisfied.

Other than tires I haven't changed it at all. Usually people can't leave their projects alone and it seems that almost as soon as someone gets a project done they are tearing it back apart, but Im perfectly happy with the way it turned out and my only plans are to drive it.
