Ls swapping the blazer this winter. I have a good 700r4 behind my TBI350, and the 60E behind the 5.3 seems to shift okay and move. I have a bad 60E I planned on rebuilding for the ls swap if I bought just an engine, but I bought a running and driving truck instead. What would you guys do? I do want to shift the 60E manually via my art carr shifter if I go that way. Just trying to plan out what I should do.

If you’re really set on using the shifter, 700. Is there something you have to do with the computer if it isn’t controlling the trans so it doesn’t “set a code”?

From what I have read on LS1tech you can buy a transgo shift kit, and delete all the wiring and program the PCM to ignore the trans. I was just wondering how bad its going to be if I run a stock trans and manually shift it ie 1-2, 2-3 and if it bogs in 2nd if I manually bring it down to 1 will it actually shift down?

Should. Only thing I’ve had the ECM override on a GM is the limiter, forces upshift
Early LT1 so not sure it applies

So the 700 is full manual, no thottle valve cable? If you still need the throttle valve cable, I would definitely ditch the 700. If it's full-manual, then it wouldn't be too bad to keep it. Thing is once, you delete the wiring from the ECU to control the transmission, I would wonder how hard it would be to go back. Say you blew the 700 and needed a new trans, would you pretty much be stuck with another full-manual 700?

Personally I'd look at the 60e since the ECU for the engine will control it. I seem to remember the 700 from the factory will force a 1st to 2nd shift even with the gear selector in 1st, but you can defeat that with a shift kit. If you're worried the 60e can do something similar, I'll bet there is a shift kit to defeat that just like the 700.

You can keep the wiring and just tune it for a manual trans. I went with a 60E cause my 700r4 needed rebuilt and was no good, I liked the idea of the ecm controlling everything.

Yah I have a shift kit in the 700, I think i'll just run the 60e and see what happens, then get the other 60E i have that is bad rebuilt. Then i dont have to buy a crank spacer, flexplate, kickdown cable bracket etc.

So I gotta ask, if you go full manual shift, how are ya gonna hold your ice cream???

:D

I would have thought the governor adjustment would have compensated for that. But I'm not sure about that.
I’m not certain either. I do think I remember winding the piss out of one and it shifted up when I had it in low.

A TH400 will upshift into second with the shift lever in "low" when the rpms hit about 5200 RPMs...good luck getting a 6.2 to do it !..

It's a programming issue with the ls swap I did. I don't have it hooked up to tell the ecm it's in low range so it's looking for mph to shift.
