4l65e rebuild kit

greg ducato ask him .

and transtar is darn good bang for the buck on master reman kits.

also no yo yo shift improver kit is great to firm / shorten / not make harsh shift kit.

I'm certainly no expert but I have used just basic kits from my local trans supplier.

Usually half the price of tci or B&M.

With those and a mild shift kit like a trans go no yo yo kit I think the trans will last a long time. Oh and a big cooler but you knew that

I might be doing a 4l60e soon and I was gonna go with Transtar, they looked to be the best bang for the buck.

Use the Borg Warner high energy band, either machine the reverse input drum on the band surface or replace it, it will be warped.A Corvette servo will certainly help on band apply. Be sure and replace the input sprag with a 29 element dual cage design. Invest in the Sonnax AFL valve kit, you will need to have the valve body bored but it is worth it, they are almost always way out of tolerance and will leak vital line pressure. A small TransGo or Superior box kit will help things out, no need to go to extremes. A new Reaction sun shell would probably be a good idea too.

Sounds like a great plan, if I followed every step, what would this trans be rated at? Going to start looking around for these parts and create a shopping list.

No. Use a new one. There are good chances of lots of crap being in the old converter. No way I would use it

I figured so, just wasn't sure. I want to do this the right way and not have any problems.

Also have another question, the 4l65e I have had the converter come apart and metal ran through the trans. Would it be ok to reuse the hard parts like the 5 pinion planets and maybe the sun shell?

We've used transtar quite a bit at our dealership. Plus don't forget to flush the cooler and lines before running the new trans.

You can use hard parts just check very carefully for damage. Clean clean clean then clean again

That's the problem with the torque converter. Can't really get it clean

The drum was toasts but the planets looked OK.

Are you doing the trans build yourself or having someone do it?
No sir, a old GM tech will be.

Make damn sure your cooler and lines are clean to. My guy recommended to replace them if the trans goes bad. Crap can get logged in there.
