Howdy folks, I have 01' 3/4 2wd burb with a 4l80e slipping. I also have 91' 2wd with a 4l80E rebuilt. Does anyone know what differences I may see bwt the two? Thanks a 3/4ton! Boy I crack myself up:haha:

you would be going backward on internals from 91 to 01.

same basic tranny but lots of little upgrades on the 01.

also there is the franny cooler lines location from around 97-98 thay were moved for better hot fluid output to cooler.

your early model has a different wiring harness, different cooler line locations and type and does not have the additional top bellhousing bolt of the 2001 model. In addition the 2001 internals are much better in terms of both performance and durability. My advice would be to build the 2001

older designs and little weaker. as in later versions got updated parts to fix comon problems.

I thought the only common problem was a leaky valve body and the upgraded wiring harness. But the cooler lines did move so there has to be some other changes inside. :dunno:

Different oiling/lube modification, changes to the overdrive and clutch materials, bands, apply pistons and cushion springs to name a few differences.
