4l80e to manual

Both my '91 trucks have the VSS on the t-case. Not sure what the 2wd trans had, I would guess its in the 2wd tail shaft housing instead.
Was going to offer suggestion could try to source ‘91 tailhousing and swap, assuming stock speedo was concern, but i’m sure thats unobtainium

They did sell 465's in the early 400 trucks that would have had a vss output if they were 2wd.

A few years ago, I'd seen a converter that changes a cable drive for the speedo to a signal the vss can use. Any experience with these or know anyone who's used one successfully?

I haven't had my ABS hooked up in years on this particular vehicle, so the only thing VSS would do for me is speedo.... might just not worry with it and get a new GPS speedo.

I tried some cable to digital stuff from Dakota Digital and ran out of patience trying to dial it in. My buddy still had a cable driven speedo but the 4L80e we swapped in needed a vss signal. I could never get it to read accurate to speed and shift correctly. I could get it to shift right but it was 20mph slow on the value to gps or the mechanical speedo. If I adjusted it to be accurate the shift timing was so far off it was annoying to drive.

I messed with it on multiple weekends trying to get them both to work right and ended up scrapping the Dakota Digital crap and we put a vss output on the 208. I need to finish the harness to swap in a ‘91 digital speedo cluster for it.
