Can you take a look in your 85 4x4 and see which one looks like the one in it?
I will do that in a couple of days, it's parked 1 hour away from me.
If it helps I can look at my 89 today.
They both are the same, it's just the 81 has a couple of oval openings that probably were for some pass thru options, I would go with the 83 because it's more solid and you can put hole in it if you want, but if you are not in a hurry I will check my 85
