That is true, but I'm just afraid of breaking the bolt or weakening it. My original thought was to just torque them to 100 ftlbs so I could watch it from loosening down the road.
I think I went with 75ft lbs. Even with grade 8 I was surprised at how "low" they were rated. One of the reasons I decided on welding, after finding the frame was bent.
I'm not sure I trust ~75ft lbs to hold the leaf spring mounts in place, no matter how many bolts there are.
I know at least a couple of people that likely tighten them far beyond what they are supposedly rated for, but I don't like that idea. Proper would be going to the size bolt that allows the correct clamp.
