4wd conversion Bolts

Going to give this bump to the top, I'm still confused on max torque for the bolt.

finger tight and burp burb on the impact gun never had any problems. :D

you get them good n tight should be no problems . :thumb:

That is true, but I'm just afraid of breaking the bolt or weakening it. My original thought was to just torque them to 100 ftlbs so I could watch it from loosening down the road.

I think I went with 75ft lbs. Even with grade 8 I was surprised at how "low" they were rated. One of the reasons I decided on welding, after finding the frame was bent.

I'm not sure I trust ~75ft lbs to hold the leaf spring mounts in place, no matter how many bolts there are.

I know at least a couple of people that likely tighten them far beyond what they are supposedly rated for, but I don't like that idea. Proper would be going to the size bolt that allows the correct clamp. :(

Lot less thought necessary welding everything in place. :)

But I hear you. I did a fair bit of researching, and ended up purchasing a bunch of Grade 8 NF's, now not to be used.
